The Barn
This is the heart of the game. For quite a long time, the barn dictates what you can and can't do. By focussing on upgrading the barn, and not over-hoarding, will make a town easier to manage.
Sell excess items, materials & tools. There is always one tool or material that lags behind. If there is a significant difference in the number of barn tools needed for the next upgrade, sell any that are in excess of the upgrade requirement.
Saws are more often the rarest of the expansion tools needed. Therefore, you can sell any axes or shovels in excess of the next expansion. It's advisable to keep hold of your saws, especially early on in the game.
Building materials can be sold regularly especially if you take note of how many are required for the next building and are not currently planning on building.
Community Buildings, Factories & Houses
As each of these unlock level by level, there is a tendency for some to try to buy everything as soon as they become available. This can actually be quite stressful for some, feeling that they can never keep up. Especially when trying to find land to accommodate the buildings as well as trying to find room in the barn, to keep the new products.
We can choose to wait and buy any of these when we are ready. I would often prefer to buy expansions and sell building materials, or use them on upgrades in the zoo. This way, I would have 2 or even 3 community buildings to choose from and various often larger housing. I would then choose the building that afforded me the highest population and then buy houses little by little depending on my needs.
Factories too, I would leave until I felt that some recipes were being requested more often. Up until then I buy what I wanted from the market/dealer.
Factories
Upgrade the Bakery, Dairy & Sugar factories as soon as possible. This may take some juggling with the trains too, but once you have them at about 30-35% time, you should start to notice the difference. Try to upgrade for the extra shelves as soon as you can too, this will take a little pressure off the barn.
Trains
The trains are the lungs of the game. Yay 3 lungs! Buy all 3 trains as soon as you can, and upgrade them to decrease their arrival time as soon as you can. The trains bring in materials & tools needed to build and upgrade your town and zoo. The faster your trains return, the more materials you will receive each day, which means buildings won't take as long to build etc.
Tool Exchange
Levelling Up
Each time you level up, you can unlock new buildings, factories and goods. The helicopter will ask for these goods, but you can keep deleting these until you are ready to fulfil them. The plane may ask for goods that you can't yet produce but the trains don't. If the plane wants goods that you can't yet produce, you have a number of options. You can send the plane away empty; buy the items from the market/dealer; flag the crates for others to fill for you; request items from the co-op chat.
Friends
Ensure that you have a good balance of friends. You want a number of lower level players that you can look to help often, as well as a number of higher levels players, that you can look to help you often. Don't be afraid to request help when filling planes and trains. Many of us can easily fill large crop orders and especially in the co-op, we can usually fulfill all orders quite quickly.

Tool Exchange
Level 60 unlocks the Tool Exchange, which means you will now have to swap bricks, glass and slabs for jackhammers, saws and drills in order to build Community Buildings (CBs) that appear from level 60 upwards. This does not currently apply to zoo enclosures. Each CB will require one material and two of the new tools. Sometimes, the tool you require will also ask for the material you actually need in order to make a swap. Use your judgement accordingly. eg Planetarium requires 30 bricks, 8 drills and 5 electric saws. You may be asked for bricks to make a swap for one or more of these tools. If you find it hard to collect bricks, then it may be better to delete the offer and wait for a better one. You can pay tcash to unlock 2 more slots.

Jewellery Factory
The Jewellery Factory unlocks at level 53. This requires ore to make jewellery which you can sell to the Mafioso at the helicopter, for tcash. Don't worry about buying this factory as soon as it becomes available. Use your ore for ingots to upgrade factories etc. You can always buy this factory at a later date. Apart from the Mafiso, the zoo may have jewellery as a menu option, however, you will only receive coins, so it is better to ignore these and just fill your baskets with the remaining menu options.
Music and Kitchenware Factories
These factories have some goods which require ore to make. If you keep your population below 14,500, they will not unlock. Once unlocked, you can purchase those items that require ore from the market/dealer, flag applicable crates for help or request them in chat. This is useful, especially if you are still upgrading all your factories/trains/ships.
